OUR GOALS
AWITA’s goal for poverty reduction is to empower women in trade and agriculture as agents of change, enabling them to break the cycle of poverty and improve their livelihoods. The organization aims to address the root causes of poverty, such as limited access to resources, education, and financial services, by providing women with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities to thrive in trade and agricultural activities. AWITA seeks to enhance women’s economic capabilities through capacity building, mentorship, and access to markets and credit facilities. By promoting gender equality and supporting women’s economic empowerment, AWITA envisions a future where women have increased income, improved living conditions, and reduced vulnerability to poverty, leading to the overall upliftment of communities and sustainable development in Nigeria and beyond.
AWITA’s goal for addressing gender discrimination is to advocate for gender equality, equity and eliminate all forms of discrimination against women in trade and agriculture. The organization seeks to challenge societal norms and biases that hinder women’s full and equal participation in these sectors. AWITA aims to raise awareness, promote education, and engage in advocacy campaigns to dismantle gender-based barriers and stereotypes. The organization strives to create an inclusive and supportive environment where women have equal access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making power. By championing gender equality, AWITA envisions a future where women in trade and agriculture are recognized, respected, and empowered to contribute to their fullest potential, fostering a more equitable and just society.
AWITA’s goal for positioning women in trade and agriculture for loans and grants is to bridge the financial gap and provide access to capital that will enable women to expand their businesses and implement innovative projects. The organization aims to support women in navigating the loan and grant application processes by providing guidance, training, and assistance in developing viable business plans and financial management skills. AWITA seeks to build strategic partnerships with financial institutions, government agencies, and donor organizations to create opportunities for women to access favorable loan terms, grants, and other forms of financial support. By positioning women for loans and grants, AWITA envisions a future where women entrepreneurs and farmers have the necessary resources to scale up their operations, invest in sustainable practices, and contribute to economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction in the trade and agriculture sectors.
AWITA’s goal for mentoring is to provide women in trade and agriculture with personalized guidance, support, and expertise to foster their professional and personal development. The organization aims to establish a robust mentoring program that connects experienced industry professionals with aspiring women entrepreneurs and farmers. AWITA seeks to create a nurturing environment where mentors can share their knowledge, experiences, and networks to empower and inspire mentees. Through mentoring, AWITA envisions a future where women receive guidance in business strategies, leadership skills, and overcoming challenges, allowing them to unlock their full potential, make informed decisions, and navigate the complexities of their respective industries. Ultimately, AWITA’s mentoring program aims to foster a strong network of empowered women who can uplift and support each other, driving positive change and achieving greater gender equality in trade and agriculture.
